Less Turn = Less Water

One of the quickest ways to be Water Smart is to reduce your turf area.

A good rule of thumb is to restrict turf area to 35% of your property.

Increasing groundcover, installing landscaped beds, mulch under trees, converting yard space to patios or decks, and adding shade trees are great ways to reduce turf area and add interest to your landscape.

"Let's be Water Smart" is a public/private water management initiative of the James City Service Authority.
