Let’s be Water Smart Landscaping Guide
The Let’s be Water Smart Landscaping Guide is designed to assist residents of James City County in creating beautiful landscapes while reducing water consumption.  The Landscaping Guide is a 28-page booklet produced by the James City Service Authority (JCSA) in coordination with landscaping and gardening experts from Hampton Roads.  The Let’s be Water Smart Landscaping Guide is available for free at participating local nurseries, the James City Service Authority lobby at 101-E Mounts Bay Road and the County Satellite Office at 3127 Forge Road.  Quantities are limited.

HR WET Water Wise Landscaping & Watering Guide
The Hampton Roads Water Efficiency Team (HR WET) along with partners in Georgia, North Carolina and the metro Washing, D.C. area, introduces a new Water Wise Landscaping and Watering Guide.  The full-color, 22-page publication is free of charge and promotes wise water use in the yard.  Topics include proper planning and design, use of native and drought tolerant plants, efficient irrigation, soil improvement, mulch and appropriate maintenance.  Hampton Roads’ residents may be interested to know that during dry periods, landscape watering can use up to three-quarters of total household water usage.  This publication provides a sensible approach to conserve water while enjoying an attractive yard.  The Water Wise Landscaping and Watering Guide can also be found on the HR WET website, www.hrwet.org.  Free copies are also available at your local water utility customer service offices; the HR WET Trailer at various events throughout the year; and the Hampton Roads Planning District Commission office.
