Mulberry Place Named First Water Smart Community
James City County, VA Mulberry Place, a new residential development on Centerville Road next to D.J. Montague Elementary School, has been named as the very first community to earn the "Water Smart" designation.
Each of the fifty homes in the development features water efficient appliances, fixtures and lawn systems. Each home is equipped with state of the art irrigation drip irrigation system for turf, which greatly reduces the amount of irrigation water lost to evaporation and wind.
The average family living in such a Water Smart community can save more than $500 annually in water costs compared to a family living in a home built in the 1970's.
