Dear Resident:

Thank you for your interest in Cap It, JCSA's private well abandonment program.

If you are not using your well, Virginia law requires that a licensed well driller properly abandon your well according to Virginia Departments of Health and Environmental Quality guidelines.

Why should you have your well properly abandoned? Open wells pose a threat to health and safety. They are a direct path for contaminates like motor oil, paint, lawn chemicals and storm water to pollute our water supply. Shallow dug wells pose an additional danger to animals and people, who may fall into one causing injury or even death.

While funds are available, the JCSA will select a limited number of qualified wells to cap free of charge. Register for your well to be considered for this program by clicking HERE.

A JCSA representative will contact you and provide further information. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Larry M. Foster
JCSA General Manager
